Unidentified gunmen abducted a man from his car in eastern Baghdad's Ghadeer area.

(4) 17 August, Morning / Jihad / Gun Shot
The owner of a shop was killed in a brawl with a police officer in the Jihad neighborhood of west Baghdad. The incident was triggered by the police officer's request that the owner keep his vehicle on the main road and the latter's subsequent refusal. This then devolved into a brawl. The police officer was arrested.

An IED detonated near a busy market in Sha'ab, a neighborhood of northern Baghdad, killing 1 and wounding 7.

BASRA

A sound bomb detonated inside a coffee shop on Algiers Street in Basra city, injuring a foreign worker and causing material damage.

(2) 16 August, Night / Fayha / IED
An IED detonated outside a residential home in Fayha, located across the Shatt al-Arab River north of Basra city. No injuries were occurred as a result of the explosion.

In Jisr Diyala, southeast of Baghdad, an IED detonated near a cafe, killing 1 civilian and injuring 7.

(2) 17 August, Evening / Hosseinia / Gun Shot
Unidentified gunmen broke into a private residence belonging to a car salesman in Hosseinia, north of Baghdad, and killed him, his wife, and 2 children. The motivation behind the attack remained unknown.

Baghdad Operations Command announced that security forces killed 3 suicide bombers who were hiding in Tarmiyah, north of Baghdad.

5 ISIS militants, all described as suicide bombers, attacked a military headquarters in al-Moshahda, located north of Baghdad in the Salah a-Din Province. The attack was described as repelled. 3 of the 5 were killed, another killed by his explosives.
