An IED exploded close to a restaurant in the capital's southern al-Sahaa neighborhood, killing 1 person and wounding 6 others.

In eastern Baghdad, in the Ghadeer neighborhood, a girl with Downs Syndrome who was accompanied by her brother was abducted. The brother was unharmed.

(4) 18 August, Evening / Binuk / Armed Robbery
Security forces killed 1 armed criminal and arrested 3 others in response to an armed robbery that they were involved in that saw the owner of a currency exchange killed. In that incident, in the northern Binuk neighborhood of Baghdad, the perpetrators used silenced guns to fatally shoot the currency exchange owner before stealing 60,000 USD and 20 million Iraqi Dinars.
