Libya forces push into last ISIS-held areas of Sirte

At least 34 soldiers of Libya’s internationally recognized government have been killed fighting ISIS in Sirte, with a further 180 wounded.

The Libyan army have reduced ISIS to a small residential area of the coastal city. The main problems delaying their victory over ISIS are suicide bombings, sniper fire and booby traps planted throughout the city.

Soldiers however have been using tanks, rocket-propelled grenades and anti-aircraft guns to take out ISIS sniper positions.

The Libyan soldiers mostly from the city of Misrata have had 5 attempted cabombs targeting their positions on Sunday in a “desperate attempt to disrupt the advance”, said a brigade spokesperson. One of the bombs had been destroyed before it could reach its target. .
