(1) Incident Type : SUSPICIOUS APPROACH /  Vessel Type : UNCONFIRMED VESSEL TYPE
0650 UTC | 03 October | Posn: 14-01.37 N 042-49.63 E | Bab El Mandeb, Yemen

There was a suspicious approach towards a vessel whilst underway. The approaching skiff was described as having a black hull and with 6 people on board who were wearing black and white clothing and armed with up to 4 weapons. They approached within 2 Cables of the vessel. The embarked armed security team displayed their weapons resulting in the skiff aborting the approach.

 

(2) Incident Type : BOARD   /  Vessel Type : CARGO VESSEL
0220 UTC | 27 September | Posn: 10-15.30 N 107-01.00 E | Vung Tau Anchorage, Vietnam

Whilst on routine rounds onboard an anchored cargo ship, the Duty AB spotted 3 robbers near the vessel's paint locker. 2 robbers were stealing paint drums while another stood watch armed with a gun. The AB who feared for his safety hid near the windlass until the robbers had escaped into a small boat. The Duty Ab then raised the alarm and the crew mustered and conducted a full search.

 

(3) Incident Type : BOARD  /  Vessel Type : BULK CARRIER
0230 UTC | 25 September | Posn: 07-46.00 S 109-04.00 E | Cilacap Anchorage, Indonesia

3 robbers armed with long knives boarded a bulk carrier whilst anchored. The robbers were able to take the Duty AB hostage and tie him to the gangway railing. The robbers then forced their way into the engine room, where they restrained both the Duty crew and oiler. The oiler was able to free himself and raise the alarm. The robbers were able to escape with ship's engine spares. Upon the crew mustering, a search was carried out. No crew members were injured.
