A small wooden boat approached a tanker whilst 4.5nm offshore. Once the crew spotted the boat approaching the ship's whistle was sounded and the fire hoses were activated. The small boat which had 3 people on board approached to within 3 metres, ropes with hooks were also sighted on board.
