A bitumen tanker was attacked and boarded by pirates 28nm offshore near the Forcados Terminal. The vessel was boarded by pirates resulting in the alarm being raised, SSAS (Ships Security Alert System) being activated and the crew retreating to the citadel. Once on board the pirates damaged ships equipment, stole ships properties and crew personal belongings. The pirates managed to escape before the Nigerian Navy boarded the vessel to rescue the crew. All crew were safe.
