A vessel was approached by a number of skiffs. Each skiff had 5 to 6 persons embarked and ladders were sighted. Armed security team on board the vessel fired warning shots. Skiffs altered the course and moved away.

A tanker was approached by 8 skiffs. The skfifs have been described as having black hulls and being 10-12m in length with 2 persons on board each. Vessel has been reported as safe.

A vessel was approached by 3 skiffs whilst underway in the Bab El Mandeb. each skiff had 5 persons on board, ladders were also sighted. Armed security team on board showed their weapons which resulted in the skiffs altering their course. The vessel has been reported as safe.

(4) Incident Type : BOARDED |  Vessel Type : PRODUCT TANKER
0350UTC | 19 August |  Posn: 06-20.00N 003-18.00E | Lagos Anchorage, Nigeria

Robbers boarded a Singapore flagged tanker at Lagos Anchorage. Duty crew on the watch noticed a floating object near the starboard bow. The armed guards onboard the tanker were informed, the alarm was raised and all crew with the exception of the watchkeepers retreated to the citadel. 1 robber was spotted and warning shots were fired, resulting in the robber jumping overboard. The crew discovered a second robber hiding in the starboard hawse pipe. The robber admitted that approximately 6 gallons of product had been stolen. He had been handed over to the local agents. Nothing else was reported stolen and the crews are reported as safe.
