A vessel was approached by 2 skiffs. Each of the skiffs had 5 persons embarked with their faces obscured. They managed to approach to within 600 metres before turning away due to rough seas.

A tanker was boarded by 2 robbers. The individuals were spotted by the crew which resulted in them jumping over board and escaping. Upon further investigation a hose was found placed into a tank, but nothing was reported stolen.

Robbers attempted to board an anchored bulk carrier via the anchor chain In Muara Berau Anchorage Samarinda. They were seen by the ships crew who informed the Duty Officer. The ships fog horn was sounded resulting in the robbers aborting their attempt and escaping in a small boat.

(4) Incident Type : ATTACK | Vessel Type : PASSENGER BOAT

A passenger boat was attacked by armed men in the Membe Creeks. The attackers targeted an accountant with the Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board and abducted him. The accountants family were later contacted by the attackers and thirty million Nigerian Naira was demanded for his release.
