(1) Incident Type : SUSPICIOUS APPROACH | Vessel Type : CARGO VESSEL
0920UTC | 08 March | Posn: 12-32.00N 043-27.00E | Red Sea

A vessel was approached by 3 skiffs with up to 4 persons onboard, whilst underway 10nm Northeast of Khor Angar, Djibouti. The vessel and crew have been reported as safe.

(2) Incident Type : ATTACK | Vessel Type : PASSENGER BOAT
UNKNOWN | 08 March | Posn: 04-27.00N 005-52.00E | Koluama Creek, Nigeria

A passenger boat was attacked whilst underway in the Koluama creeks. Armed pirates shot 2 passengers, 1 of which was a pregnant woman. The pirates then stole personal belongings from the passengers and a 200 horsepower engine from the passenger boat. The passengers have been rescued and taken to the nearby village.

(3) Incident Type : SUSPICIOUS APPROACH | Vessel Type : CONTAINER VESSEL  
1800UTC | 08 March | Posn: 03-55.00N 001-14.00W | Takoradi, Ghana

A Liberian flagged container vessel was approached by 3 skiffs 65nm southeast of Takoradi. The skiffs had up to 6 armed persons on board and approached the vessel from the port quarter, starboard quarter and starboard bow to within 0.5nm.The occupants were wearing camouflage clothing and carrying weapons. The Master of the container vessel increased speed and undertook evasive manoeuvres. The skiffs pursued the vessel for 5 minutes before aborting due to a moderate swell. The vessel and crew have been reported as safe.
