(1) Incident Type : ATTACK | Vessel Type : TANKER
0800UTC | 16 March | Posn: 03-57.00N 006-42.5E | Southwest of Bonny, Nigeria

Pirates attacked a tanker approximately 36nm southwest of Bonny. There were 3 boarding attempts and an exchange of fire between the embark security team and the attackers. The pirates were unable to board and the Tanker continued her route to the Bonny River.

(2) Incident Type : ATTACK | Vessel Type : CARGO VESSEL
0635UTC | 16 March | Posn: 04-01.6N 006-48.33E | Southwest of Bonny, Nigeria

A cargo vessel was under attack. The incident was first reported at 0635UTC when the cargo vessel was approximately 28nm southwest of Bonny and being chased by pirates. The pirates managed to board the vessel, the crew retreated to the Citadel and communicated with a nearby vessel via VHF. The vessel was drifting 15nm southwest of Bonny. Later, Nigerian Navy boarded the cargo vessel. The vessel and crew are reported as safe.
