SHIELD INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

(1) Incident Type : SUSPICIOUS APPROACH | Vessel Type : TANKER
2255UTC | 21 May | Posn: 03-46.24N 001-30.42E | South of Lome, Togo

An attempted boarding occurred on a tanker whilst adrift approximately 140nm south of Lome. A crew member spotted one assailant boarding the tanker, he shouted and raised the alarm. This resulted in the assailant jumping back into his skiff, which had 6 other persons on board. The crew retreated to the Citadel, SSAS was activated and the Master increased speed to carry out evasive manoeuvres. Vessel and crew are now safe.

(2) Incident Type : BOARD (ROBBERY) | Vessel Type : BULK CARRIER
1925UTC | 19 May | Posn: 05-52.03S 106-04.08E | Merak Anchorage, Indonesia

3 robbers armed with knives managed to board an anchored bulk carrier at Merak anchorage. The robbers threatened the duty crewman who was carrying out routine rounds before entering the engine room and stealing ships spares. The robbers then made their escape.

(3) Incident Type : BOARD (ATTEMPTED ROBBERY) | Vessel Type : BULK CARRIER
1101UTC | 19 May | Posn: 01-10.00N 103-27.00E | East of Pulau Karimum Kecil, Indonesia

6 robbers managed to board a tanker whilst underway approximately 2.5nm east, north, east of Pulau Karimum Kecil. The duty engineer noticed the robbers and informed the Master who raised the alarm. Upon seeing the alert crew, the robbers escaped empty handed.

(4) Incident Type : BOARD (ATTEMPTED ROBBERY) | Vessel Type : BULK CARRIER
0202UTC | 19 May | Posn: 06-26.00N 003-23.00E | Lagos Anchorage, Nigeria

7 robbers were discovered attempting to board an anchored bulk carrier at Lagos anchorage using a rope with a hook attached. The duty crew observed the robbers, raised the alarm and informed the local authorities. Upon seeing the alerted crew, the robbers abandoned their attempt to board and escaped.

(5) Incident Type : BOARD (ROBBERY) | Vessel Type : TANKER
2045UTC | 15 May | Posn: 01-06.25N 104-11.17E | Tanjung Uban Anchorage, Indonesia

Robbers managed to board an anchored tanker at Tanjung Uban anchorage unnoticed. They stole items of ships properties before escaping. The robbery was discovered by the duty crew when carrying out routine rounds.

(6) Incident Type : BOARD (ROBBERY) | Vessel Type : TANKER
0800UTC | 05 May | Posn: 01-27.04N 104-36.03E | Northeast of Tanjung Berakit, Indonesia

Robbers boarded an anchored tanker 12nm north, north east of Tanjung Berakit, Bitan Island. The robbers stole items of ships properties and escaped. The robbery was discovered when crew were conducting a routine emergency drill.
