SHIELD INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

(1) Incident Type : SUSPICIOUS APPROACH | Vessel Type: Container Vessel
1700UTC | 05 June | Posn: 03-31.00N 006-38.50E | Southwest of Okwori Terminal, Nigeria

A Singapore flagged container vessel was approached by 1 speed boat whilst underway, 30nm Southwest of Okwori Terminal. The container ship increased speed and altered her heading, the suspect vessel continued chasing for a further 30 minutes before aborting its pursuit. Both the vessel and crew are reported as safe.

(2) Incident Type : BOARD (ATTEMPTED ROBBERY) | Vessel Type: TANKER
0350UTC | 05 June | Posn: 06-20.50N 003-23.60E | Lagos Anchorage, Nigeria

6 robbers were able to board a tanker whilst anchored at Lagos Anchorage. The robbers boarded the vessel from a small boat but were discovered on the poop deck by duty crew. The crew were able to capture and detain the robbers, and the small boat fled from the scene. The Master of the tanker then informed both the Port Authority and Nigerian Navy to hand the perpetrators to the authorities.

(3) Incident Type : SUSPICIOUS APPROACH | Vessel Type: CARGO VESSEL
0340UTC | 05 June | Posn: 03-47.00N 006-48.00E | Southwest of Okwori Terminal, Nigeria

A cargo vessel was approached by 1 speed boat whilst underway 12nm Southwest of Okwori Terminal. The speed boat approached from the cargo vessel's starboard quarter to within 1nm. Naval guards onboard an escort vessel fired warning shots at the speedboat and took chase for 1nm, this resulted in the suspicious vessel increasing speed and escaping. Both the vessel and crew are reported as safe.

(4) Incident Type : BOARD (ROBBERY) | Vessel Type: PASSENGER BOAT
1600UTC | 04 June | Posn: 04-38.50N 006-48.30E | Nigeria

Robbers boarded a passenger boat whilst underway from Abonnema jetty to Kula Town. The robbers assaulted the passengers and stole their valuables before escaping.
