SHIELD INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

(1) Incident Type : BOARD (ROBBERY) | Vessel Type: TANKER
1400UTC | 10 July | Posn: 05-48.21N 118-04.35E | Sandakan Port, Malaysia

Robbery occurred on a berthed tanker at Sandakan Port. Robbers were able to board the tanker, steal items of ship's property and escape unnoticed. Duty crew conducting routine rounds discovered the theft.

(2) Incident Type : BOARD (ROBBERY) | Vessel Type: GAS TANKER
1640UTC | 05 July | Posn: 13-45.44N 121-00.82E | Batangas Anchorage, Philippines

The duty crew on board an anchored gas tanker in Batangas anchorage observed an unauthorised person on the forecastle deck. The Duty Officer was informed and the alarm raised. The crew were mustered and a search carried out which confirmed that ships stores were missing. The unauthorised person was not found.

(3) Incident Type : SUSPICIOUS APPROACH | Vessel Type: TUG
1920UTC | 03 July | Posn: 01-49.09N 003-12.01E | Offshore Nigeria

Duty Officer on board a tug underway approximately 220nm south west of Bayelsa observed a fishing boat launching a long skiff into the water with 4 to 5 persons on board. The skiff approached to within 0.5nm of the tug resulting in the alarm being raised. The tug increased speed and headed into the swell. The skiff made several attempts to get closer but failed due to the rough weather conditions. The skiff continued to follow the tug for over 5 hours before aborting its attempt at boarding and moving away.
