(1) Incident Type : PIRATE ATTACK | Vessel Type: TUG A Malaysian flagged tug was attacked whilst underway 14nm Northwest of Tambisan Island.
A black hulled boat powered by four outboard engines approached the tug and 4 pirates onboard, armed with M16
rifles opened fire. One crew member suffered an injury to their left thigh. The Malaysian authorities arrived following the
attack and transferred the injured crew member. The tug was then escorted to the port of Lahad Datu.
