SHIELD INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

(1) Incident Type : PIRATE ATTACK
2145 UTC | 15 April | Posn: 4-28.00E 007-10.05E | NIGERIA

An incident has taken place within Bonny Anchorage, Nigeria. A vessel was under attack and that Nigerian Navy were informed and arrived on scene. The vessel and crew are classed as safe. Further confirmed information has been received stating that a tanker was approached by armed persons attempting to board. Gunfire was exchanged between the aggressors and the onboard Navy team resulting in one Navy personnel being injured. A total of 4 armed aggressors approached the tanker in a speedboat, 2 aggressors managed to board the tanker and then opened fire on the accommodation block. The onboard Navy Team returned fired resulting in the persons retreating to their speedboat and escaping. Two Nigerian Navy vessels arrived on scene, who then evacuated the injured Navy personnel. All crew mustered in the Citadel during this incident.

(2) Incident Type : ROBBERY
0800 UTC | 17 April | Posn: 04-38.37N 07-10.04E | NIGERIA

A robbery took place on board a passenger vessel on the Bonny River, Nigeria. The passenger vessel was underway when a number of robbers boarded from a speedboat. Once onboard, they stole the passengers belongings before escaping.

(3) Incident Type : ROBBERY
0010 UTC | 20 April | Posn: 06-21.00N 03-23.00E | NIGERIA

Robbers managed to board an oil tanker in the anchorage area of Lagos, Nigeria. Information regarding if any property was stolen during this incident has not been released as of yet. Lagos port authorities have been informed of the incident. It was found that this incident took place in the Bonny River and this incident crew members were kidnapped.

(4) Incident Type : PIRACY ATTACK
0712 UTC | 21 April | Posn: 00-29.00S 048-36.00E | SOMALIA

An incident occurred involving two fishing trawlers 240nm south east of Mogadishu. One of the fishing trawlers was approached by two skiffs with up to 10 persons on board. The second trawler altered course to assist resulting in the vessel being fired upon by one of the skiffs at position 000 57.00 South 0480 39 East at 0830 UTC. The on-board armed security team returned fire and the skiffs moved away. Both trawlers and crew are reported as safe.

(5) Incident Type : ATTEMPED ROBBERY
1005 UTC | 26 April | Posn: 06-05.50S 106-53.49E | INDONESIA

2 robbers boarded a container ship berthed at Jakarta Terminal. A duty crew member raised the alarm after discovering the robbers in the engine room while conducting routine rounds. Upon hearing the alarm, the robbers made their escape. It has been identified that nothing was stolen after a search of the vessel was carried out.

(6) Incident Type : ROBBERY
0604 UTC | 28 April | Posn: 05-50.50S 013-25.80E | Democratic Republic of Congo

Robbers were able to board an anchored tanker at Ango Ango Inner Anchorage. 2 robbers armed with knives were spotted on deck, the alarm was raised and the crew were ordered to the citadel. The robbers made their escape after stealing three mooring lines. The vessel and crew are reported as safe.

(7) Incident Type : ATTEMPED ROBBERY
UNKNOWN TIME | 24 April | Posn: 01-11.00N 103-34.00E | INDONESIA

Robbers were able to board a dredger under tow from a tug boat 5nm West-northwest of Nipa Island. Two wooden boats were spotted alongside the dredger, the Master directed a large light at the dredger which resulted in two robbers escaping in the waiting boats. Both the vessel and crew are safe and nothing was reported stolen.The pilot of the tug boat reported the incident to the Singapore authorities who informed both the Indonesian authorities and the Singapore Police Coast Guard.
