Along with the maritime security industry evolution and requirements, SHIELD INTERNATIONAL SECURITY has taken a significant step forth in regards of the training, competency and skills of its contractors.
We ensure that all of our Private Contracted Armed Security Personals (PCASP) are trained to the highest standard to remain current, competent and comply with all industry requirements.

Maritime Security Operative Course

In compliance to the IMO standards, our Maritime Security operatives are requires to annually undertake a mandatory MSO Course of continuation training and maintain currency and competency levels throughout their tenure with the company. This 2 days course covers presentations and practical instruction as outlined below:

• Maritime Security Industry
• Maritime Organisations (IMO, IMB, MCA)
• Shipping Associations (BIMCO, ICS, Intercargo, Intertanko)
• Military / Naval Organizations, (NATO, UKMTO, MSCHOA, CMF, MARLO)
• Maritime Security guidance (STCW, SOLAS, ISM Code, ISPS Code, BMP)
• Maritime Security Legislation
• Maritime security threats
• MSO / Crew roles and responsibilities,
• SOPs
• RUF
• Weapons Chain of Custody
• Communication & Chain of Command

Firearm Handling Competency

In compliance to the IMO standards, we ensure that all security personnel are at least yearly trained and competent on the specific firearms system used by the company. Also to reinforce their confidence and skills, Security Personnel are trained and refreshed with the firearms safety handling on each transit basis.

Our PCASP qualifications & documentations standards

We insure that our PCASPs complied and are holders of the below outlined documents and certifications:

• Valid passport
• Criminal record showing “no criminal convictions” (To be renewed every 6 months)
• Mental and Physical Medical certificate (Yearly renewal)
• Drugs & Alcohol result certificate showing NEGATIVE results at incorporation
• Vaccination book with “yellow fever” up to date
• ENG1 (Seafarer Medical Certificate) (to be renewed as per validity on the document)
• STCW 95 qualified (4 modules) (to be renewed as per validity – 5 years)
• SSO certify
• MSO Training (MSO to be renewed on Yearly basis)
• Firearms handling Competency course certificate, (Yearly renewal)
• First Person on Scene Intermediate level (or equivalent) certificate (to be renewed as per validity on the document)
• Seaman book (to be renewed as per validity on the document)
• Honorable Military discharge document

Training Records

To insure the best management practice and quality services, all training records are kept and maintained into company’s database and individually filled.
